Store Info

ABOUT US
Thornbury Records is an independent record store in Thornbury, Melbourne, Australia. We opened our doors in early February 2011. The store is operated and staffed by its two owners Megan and Clayton.

Thornbury Records aka ‘TRecs’ was born of the idea that today people listen to a wider range of music in more formats than ever before, but there will always be those of us who cherish physical music products, particularly vinyl, and the community that surrounds it.

Our goal was to start a music store that embraces the music lovers’ desire for exposure to large amounts of music, but encourages the connection with a physical product. We also wanted to promote local artists and the plethora of amazing releases that come from Melbourne and across Australia. We will happily take your new release on consignment, see the information below.

Anyone who's been into the store would be familiar with its layout, including the wall of vinyl, digital listening stations, zine section and the overwhelming presence of a stage! A couple of formalities have prevented us from having any live in-store performances as yet, but that is something you can look forward to in the near future.

WHY SHOULD YOU SHOP WITH US?
  • We are a small, physical independent record store and we love music!
  • We have plenty of time to answer your questions and hunt down releases for you.
  • If it's listed on our website then we actually have it in stock. Our online inventory is synchronised to the physical store inventory. This means that in most cases the item will be in the post by the next business day.
  • We don’t care how big or small your record collection is or what you know about music, if you have a query, we’ll answer it.

PRIVACY POLICY
Thornbury Records is committed to acting in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993 and any personal information we collect from you (including credit card details, names, email addresses, postal addresses and passwords) will not be disclosed, sold or loaned to any third party not directly related to the processing of your order.

ONLINE PAYMENTS
To pay for an order you can choose to pay with a visa debit/credit card, or via direct deposit.
  • Paying with Credit Card
We process credit card payments online with NAB Transact. This is a hosted payment page that means our website never sees your credit details, you will be dealing directly with the secure servers of National Australia Bank. The payment page uses a 128 bit SSL security certificate and has 3D Secure and CVN capabilities.
  • Direct Deposit
Transfer payment for goods directly to our account. You will be supplied with details of our bank account on checkout. Please note that this can take up to 24 hours for payment to show in our account and goods will not be shipped until payment is confirmed.

SHIPPING INFO & ORDER PROCESSING
Postage for orders in Australia are based on weight and destination. To get a shipping estimate, add items to your cart and then click 'shopping cart' near the top of the page.

International orders will require Thornbury Records to provide a shipping quote before payment can be accepted. This is something we hope to automate in the future once we have negotiated economical international postage prices. Please note that the customer is responsible for any import duty/taxes associated with importing goods into your country.

Orders will be processed within 24 hours and posted the morning of the next business day. This means that within Australia you can expect delivery between 2-5 days depending on your location.

PRICES
All prices on our website are in Australian dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of GST. International orders will have the GST element removed from the total.

RETURNS
Returns are accepted if return is due to change of mind or unwanted gift, store credit for the amount of the goods will be given only if the goods are un-opened and in the same condition as received. Cost of postage is not refundable and cost of return post is the returnee’s responsibility. Returns will be assessed upon receiving the item at Thornbury Records and any damage in transit remains the returnee’s responsibility.
Damaged or faulty goods must be reported to us within 48 hours of receipt of the item. While our music products are all new and usually sealed from the distributor (some local and euro releases are distributed un-sealed), there is a very small percentage of returns due to warped discs or other problems. If you feel like you generally have extremely bad luck and would like us to open and check records before shipping, please make a note on the order. If the product is faulty and reported and returned to us, store credit or a replacement copy (where available) will be offered. Postage is at the returnee’s expense.
