Six years on from Vision Of A Psychedelic Africa, African Head Charge made a long-anticipated return with the LP Voodoo Of The Godsent in 2011. As is so often the case with records made by Adrian Sherwood and Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah's group, this album goes some way to redefining what is possible within the world of dub production. Voodoo Of The Godsent utilises many classic dub sounds, techniques and aesthetic choices, but in typical African Head Charge fashion these are treated with a rampant experimental sensibility to create unique and captivating music.

A plethora of guests flanked Sherwood and Noah in the creation of Voodoo Of The Godsent. Notable contributions come from electronics whizz Adamski and the Grammy award-winning dancehall producer Jazzwad. Perhaps due to the large amount of external input here, Voodoo Of The Godsent is not quite as imposing a record as some of the other full-lengths in the African Head Charge discography. While harsh, almost industrial textures threaten to punch through on tracks such as 'African Bredda', by and large this is one of the group's most harmonious and melody-centric releases.

As is the case with the other reissues in On-U Sound's new African Head Charge series, vinyl editions of Voodoo Of The Godsent come with a plethora of bonus goodies including a poster, interview with Noah, photographs of the group and the bonus track 'Fear Of A Man God'. This is also the first vinyl pressing for the album.
