Throughout Garagee's 16yr history, though always displaying his inimitable instrumental electronic-post-rock-via-world-music sonic pallete, EPs and singles have often been stylistically eclectic. The albums, on the other hand, have always served as a means to reconcile these differences in a coherent journey.
With 'III', Garagee introduces collaborations with respected vocalists and lyricists to help tell the tale, where each track has been written to serve the unique aesthetic and timbre of each singer, crafting a diverse and epic story. Including the likes of Steve Kilbey (The Church), Jane McArthur, Lindsay Phillips, and Pink Tights, amongst others, the album runs like a personalised mixtape mailed to someone you recently had a long and invigorating existential discussion with at a party. Though not a concept album as such, themes of our place in the world keep popping up, through ruminations on our interactions with media, technology, social expectations and lamentations on regret. Finally putting succinct words to Garagee's always emotive vignettes seems like an ineviteable and refreshing step.
