Limited run of 250 10" black vinyl
After receiving online acclaim and radio play for the psych-grunge-pop gems 1963 and Good Intentions, Heavy Beach have unleashed their debut self titled EP on 10" vinyl.
Comprising of Ali Edmonds (Little Athletics, Damn Terran, Ali E), Mark Renall (Howl at the Moon) and Clayton Pegus (Spun Rivals) this Melbourne trio have an uncanny knack of blending modern rock sensibilities with just the right amount of 90s nostalgia.
Recorded with Matt Storey (Howl at the Moon, Papernecks, Tinsmoke) at Nick's Warehouse in Fairfield over a weekend in late November 2011 and mixed by Clayton Pegus out the back of Thornbury Records; this EP is perfect soundtrack for kicking back and catching the springtime sun on a Saturday afternoon.
What sets Heavy Beach apart is the rich dynamic between the three members. Mark's driving drums, Clayton's grungy bass lines and Ali's dirty fuzz-guitar are bound together with smooth-flowing vocals creating a somehow familiar, yet unmistakably original shoegazey-psych sound.
"I would love to live next to you guys if you rehearsed all day loudly. And if you live next to a tight arse I see you guys as awesome contrary types that would just play louder."
-Steph Hughes (Boomgates, Dick Diver)
