Having established himself as one of the true balladeers not on the scene, Jarvie's atmospheric and sometimes painfully insightful lyrics and melodies get straight under your skin where they sit and itch, striking nerves with their twisting and moody beauty. He's a reclusive character who has written and recorded a swag of material over the years since leaving the band he started with friends Rival Flight, and very rarely does he perform live. That band (Rival Flight) were a true powerhouse and played some great shows while they were around with some truly wonderful bands like June of 44, Trans Am, Arab Strap, Smog, Sam Prekop, Rebecca Gates, establishing him as an 'under the underground' figure in the Australian 'rock' or 'post rock', if you like, scene.
