Spite House are a (relatively) new band but it's members have already paid their dues and then some in a multitude of other incredible projects including, but not limited to, THE DIAMOND SEA, GOLD TANGO, SLUG GUTS and CONCRETE LIFE (also TEARGAS, LAKES, EAST LINK, LOOMER and probably more).

"Spite House is a collective noun that refers to the civil democratic union of four musicians. The members have all moved from other places in Australia and met in Melbourne. The band is distinguishable from the members' former/concurrent bands, with varying amounts of disparity and likeness between each. The band isn't anchored to a prescribed aesthetic and is learning things as they go, both collectively and as individuals. Spite House began as a casual collaboration between the vocalist and guitarist, some time before the present-day band came to exist. The initial ideas were reworked and new songs were written as a group.

Their debut EP is the band's first fully-realised recording. It was recorded by Tom Hardisty in one September afternoon at Smiley McSlidey Studios, East Brunswick.Vocal tracks and extra percussive sounds were overdubbed in a more relaxed environment. Most of the music draws from ideas formed by the pre-band incarnation, where scattered influences were pulled from no place in particular. The guitar playing in late-period HUGGY BEAR and the rhythm of KILLING JOKE's early material are two sources that inform the band's sound." - Heavy Lows.
